BOISE, Idaho — Get ready for some free-range fun for you and your dogs at a couple of Boise parks. Right now, Ann Morrison Park and the Optimist Youth Sports Complex are open to dogs off-leash.
The program has been going on for several years, and now that the sports are winding down in those areas, dogs are free to play out in the open.
"Like I said, a friendly kind of atmosphere here with everybody here for the same reasons," said Mary Davis, a local dog owner. "Just to give their dogs an experience that they can't get in their backyards or walking down the sidewalk."
Having the dogs out and about helps the parks too, by running off geese that can be destructive to grass and other plants. Boise Parks and Recreation asks dog owners to have their dogs voice trained and to pick up after pets, as well as generally be respectful of all park users.
The dogs are required to be on a leash in the parking lot and on the Greenbelt.
