BOISE, Idaho — Of all the decorated trees in the Treasure Valley, perhaps none holds more significance than one inside the capitol.

The tree was decorated by Gold Star Mothers of Idaho, a group representing families who lost a loved one in the service of their country on the battlefield.

"They fought, they died, they sacrificed, they gave their all, and it really would be a great idea if we were the type of citizens worth dying for, and so we think that its important to have the awareness out there that we should all be appreciative of what they've done," said Anna Workman, a member of the group.

Gold Star Families started fundraising for a gold star memorial this year in Pocatello. They need to raise $275,000 to make it a reality.

Nearly 80 Idaho families have lost loved ones who gave their all protecting our country and all it stands for.
