Tips for Monday's tax filing deadline

Posted

Over 600,000 tax returns have already been filed in the Gem state. An additional 140,000 more returns are expected to come in by Monday's deadline.

The deadline normally falls on April 15 but a new legal holiday in Washington D.C. pushed it back.

So, paperwork must be submitted by April 18.

If you're filing a joint tax return, make sure both spouses' signatures are included.

"Double check those social security numbers because an incorrect social security number will delay your refund," says Renee Eymann, public information office for the Idaho State Tax Commission. "So, you want to make sure those are accurate."

Curbside drop off services will be available for state returns outside the tax commission's office on Monday in Boise. The hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You don't even have to get out of your car and can save yourself a stamp.
