BOISE, Idaho — There will be a lot more smiles on Treasure Valley children this holiday season. The Marines want to keep filling all of the Toys for Tots bins at area hospitals, but they are always looking for help.
On Monday, the Marines received a record-breaking check for over $29,000 raised locally by the Hillcrest Country Club. Better yet, the fundraiser filled a bright red sleigh with toys and gifts.
"We can't do this all by ourselves so we reach back to the community and sometimes the community reaches to us and says how can you help," said Sgt. Craig Wilcox. "This is just a fine example of how our community steps up to help those less fortunate children."
The combined efforts of the Marines and Hillcrest Country Club's Fill the Sleigh campaign are even more important this year because so many families have been financially and personally impacted by COVID-19.
