TRAFFIC UPDATE: 10-vehicle crash sends two to hospitals, clogs westbound I-84 traffic Thursday night

BOISE, Idaho — UPDATE:

Idaho State Police say a 10-vehicle crash was to blame for blocking all lanes of westbound I-84 near the Maple Grove overpass for about 17 minutes during the busy early evening hours Thursday.

Police say 19-year-old Brigham Anderson of Meridian was driving westbound in a 2007 Toyota Camry, when he left his lane and struck nine other vehicles.

All involved were wearing seatbelts.

Police say Anderson was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's in Meridian. An elderly woman in her 70s was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise.

The crash is under investigation.

If you're heading home, avoid I-84!

All westbound traffic on I-84 near the Maple Grove overpass is completely blocked because of a crash, according to Idaho State Police. The Franklin on-ramp has also been shut down, according to dispatch.

Ada County Dispatch tells 6 On Your Side there are four or five vehicles involved, and possible injuries, although how many and the severity of those injuries is unknown. One person has been taken to the hospital.

If you're traveling in the area, expect extended delays.

The circumstances of the crash, and whether there are any injuries has not been released.
