TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Water is safe to drink in north Twin Falls after officials lifted a water advisory caused by a ruptured pipe.

The Times-News reports the Department of Environmental Quality gave the city approval to lift the advisory, which asked residents to boil or filter their water before drinking.

Officials tested samples to ensure there was no contamination after the pipe that supplies thousands of residents with water gave way on Friday, causing a drop in pressure.

Twin Falls had put the water advisory in effect for the north side of the city.
