BOISE, Idaho — Two Boise men are in the Ada County Jail after police say they stole a cash box of donations from a restaurant on the 4900 block of W. Overland Road -- donations made by customers to help the needy during the Covid-19 virus.

Officers were able to catch the suspects – later identified as Eric Dushime, 20, and Yannick Balunguila, 19 -- but not before they reportedly ditched the cash box, according to a Boise Police news release.

“The box is described as a grey metal box measuring approximately 5 inches x 3 inches x 2 inches. It appears the suspects tossed or hid the box somewhere in the area bound by Orchard Street on the west, Overland Road on the south, and S. Newell and W. Kootenai Place on the east,” the release said.

If you find the box, police ask that you not touch it, since detectives would need to process it as evidence. Instead, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS (2677), 343COPS.com [t.co], or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for your mobile device.

Dushime is facing misdemeanors of petit theft, possession of marijuana, and destroying evidence.

Balunguila faces misdemeanors of petit theft and possession of marijuana.

No further information was immediately available.
