Two passengers struck and killed during police pursuit in Nampa

Two people are dead after a driver fleeing from police crashed into a car in Nampa early Saturday morning.

Idaho State Police say troopers assisted the Nampa Police Department with the crash on Saturday, July 14, at approximately 12:18 a.m.,  after the pursuit involving a pickup. 

Police say the pickup impacted a passenger car in the intersection of 16th Ave North and 3rd Street North in Nampa. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.

The two adult occupants inside the passenger car succumbed to their injuries on scene. Names have been withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the pickup was transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Nampa and later released and booked into the Canyon County Jail on multiple criminal charges. 

Police have not yet released information about the events leading up to the pursuit, or the identity of the driver. Check back for updates.
