Trio found safe after spending night outdoors

Idaho County Sheriff’s Office deputies and search-and-rescue crews have rescued a 34-year-old Kooskia woman, her five-year-old son, and her mother after they spent the night outdoors when they became lost while hunting for mushrooms.

The trio was reported overdue on April 19th, 2016, at 11:10 p.m. to officials.

The party had left Kooskia at approximately 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to go mushroom hunting and failed to return.

Idaho County Sheriff’s personnel coordinated with family and friends to find their vehicle which was located at Highway 12 near milepost 117.8.

Idaho County Search and Rescue with Clearwater County Search and Rescue Back Country Helicopter were called to assist in the search and found the trio approximately two miles downstream from Shoestring Falls at 8:39 a.m. on Wednesday.

All three people were unharmed.
