BOISE, Idaho — USA Hockey sponsored a free hockey clinic for local kids at Idaho IceWorld on Saturday.
The clinic is hosted twice a year and allows kids to learn how to play hockey or improve their hockey-playing skills.
USA Hockey covered the cost for equipment rentals to make sure any beginner skaters who wanted to participate were able.
"A lot of kids don't have the chance to come out and ice skate," says Leeann Schlake, Assistant Hockey Coordinator. "It's very scary for some, so it's nice for them to come out here and try it and have their helmets on. We just do helmet, gloves, skates and a stick."
Kids were able to spend 45 minutes on the ice and skate around to practice their stick-to-puck coordination.
