UPDATE: Organizers say this year's event has raised more than $27,500.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Boise coffee shop is spreading love and local art for a good cause. The Flying M Coffee House in Downtown Boise is hosting the 27th annual Valentine for AIDS event. Proceeds go to the Safety Net for AIDS program.
The money helps people with HIV and AIDS pay their rent, buy medication and get medical assistance. All kinds of art photography, paintings, statues and more are on the auction block. Around 260 pieces of art are up for bid, a number that has been increasing every year.
"The growth is amazing. Right now, we have a two-year waiting list for people tp get on the list to participate," said Jessica Pallante, shop manager.
Bidding begins Thursday and wraps up on February 16. Last year, the event raised more that $30,000 for Safety Net for AIDS.
