Valley Co. officials arrest bank robbery suspect within four minutes of alarm activation

A man police say robbed a Cascade bank Monday was located and taken into custody within four minutes of the activation of the bank's hold-up alarm.

The Valley County Sheriff’s Office was advised of the alarm at Umpqua Bank at 101 S. Main Street in Cascade Monday around 2:30 p.m.

Responding units were provided a description of a lone male who entered the bank and demanded money.

Units were advised the male was 5’10, 175 lbs, wearing a bright orange sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, carrying a bag with a beach towel sticking out.

Units responded to the bank and located a male fleeing the area who matched the description provided by the bank employees. The male was taken into custody.

He is identified as Brent L. Gutierrez, 47, Agoura Hills, CA. The male was in possession of a bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash, beach towel, and an orange hoodie.

Gutierrez was taken to the Valley County Jail and booked on the charge of Robbery.
