BOISE, Idaho — Guard Tower 1 at the Old Idaho Penitentiary is in need of repairs and you can help raise money through an online auction. The Idaho State Historical Society said on Facebook that after 126 years of pacing guards, Idaho weather, and more recently, occasional vandalism, the tower is in desperate need of repairs.
2020 marks the 12th Wine, Eats and Artifacts event, but it will be virtual this year. The Foundation for Idaho History and Idaho State Historical Society is bringing the gala to the entire Gem State and beyond in the virtual format.
The auction will include dinner with astronauts, lunch with the Governor and First Lady, paranormal experiences and more. The auction will open on September 10 and close on September 25. If you register in advance, you will be entered in a drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
The virtual event starts at 6 p.m. MST on September 17. On that day, you will get an inside look at Guard Tower 1 that visitors to the Old Idaho Penitentiary do not get to see.
