BOISE, Idaho — The West Boise YMCA opened its doors in 1995, along with its aquatic center which remains the only indoor Olympic-size pool in the Treasure Valley.

A countless number of children have learned to swim at the facility over the last 25 years, along with plenty of other historic events. To mark the occasion, the YMCA opened a time capsule from its first year.

Former Boise Mayor Brent Coles and current Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway came to the celebration and read letters from news organizations and students.

"It was so great to remember the passion and the vision that went into planning and making this facility a reality and to celebrate some of the fruits of that labor and how many lives have been touched because of the people that went before us," said David Duro of the YMCA.

The public has the opportunity to attend a virtual event on the time capsule opening on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Here is the link.
