BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Nampa woman who tried to "baptize" her baby in an irrigation canal and to give her 4-year-old daughter away has been sentenced to two to 10 years in prison.
The Idaho Statesman reports that 23-year-old Regina Dilworth on Thursday was sentenced for felony injury to a child. She entered a guilty plea earlier this year.
Dilworth was arrested in August after a passerby reported seeing her holding the infant down in the water. A second child was standing on the bank crying. She told police voices were telling her to "baptize" her child.
The witness jumped into the water and rescued the baby.
