Boise Philharmonic offers music education resources

Local businesses aren't the only ones adapting to the new normal. Performers and educators are adapting too.

The Boise Philharmonic would usually visit about a hundred schools across the state, but this year they had to get creative.

That's why they produced educational videos for music teachers to use in their classrooms. They're meant to be a valuable education tool, especially in a time when learning looks so different.

"Band, orchestra, choir, guitar class, percussion ensemble, all of those engage parts of the brain that otherwise don't get fed," Dan Howard, General Manager of the Boise Philharmonic explained. "Of the 17 meet the instruments videos one of them is mine. when I show that video to the kids, they're like 'Oh I know him' and then kids of different age groups around the valley say 'Oh I know him'"

You don't have to be a music educator, or even in Boise to take advantage of these videos. You can be a parent, or even a student, anywhere in Idaho. Click here for more information.
