Like other local performers, Opal Theatre Company has had to evolve amid the pandemic, but they're already looking toward the future.
When the pandemic hit last year, the theatre was forced out of its space, but rather than stopping performances, they decided to record them instead.
The company's current production is called "Speech and Debate" and will be available starting next Friday.
Viewers can rent the performance--similar to a movie.
"So you can rent it Friday Saturday Sunday and you'll have it until Tuesday and then the next weekend you can rent it Friday Saturday Sunday and you'll have it until Tuesday," explained Joshua Rippy, Artistic Director of the theatre.
Rippy says the pandemic opened the door for them to explore how theatre interacts in the digital world, and they will likely continue to offer this option even when the pandemic is over.
Directors of the show say during times of trouble, we often turn to the arts for comfort, and they wanted to provide that comfort to the community.
"I felt like we could serve the community with bringing something that allowed them to have an oasis in the desert," Rippy said.
