IDAHO — Are you still waiting on your unemployment insurance claim to process?
According to Idaho Department of Labor (IDOL) reps, it could be because your claim was flagged for verification due to a recent influx in fraudulent claims.
Labor reps say they are working to combat thousands of scammers using the names and addresses of Idaho residents to try and claim benefits on their behalf. Unfortunately, the false claims require employee review and slow down the payment process for some valid claims.
"We are very cognisant of -- we want to have integrity in our system. You saw what happened in Washington, where they shipped off a bunch of pandemic money and it went to hackers," said Governor Little, when we asked him about the backlog of claims.
Labor reps say the scammers are attempting to have benefits payments sent to bank accounts in different states and addresses. They say that about 45 percent of claims flagged for fraud, turn out to be fraud.
It's unclear from their recent press release whether hackers have gotten access to any claimants' personal information, but we will continue investigating for you.
