Riley Shoemaker is the Idaho News 6 neighborhood multimedia journalist dedicated to bringing you the latest stories from Southwest Ada County Alliance.
Growing up in New Jersey, a stone's throw away from lower Manhattan, Riley is a New Yorker at heart. She embarked on her journey in journalism at her high school's news station, subsequently pursuing a degree in Communications at the Annenberg School, University of Pennsylvania. Her time at Penn served as the catalyst for her passion for storytelling leading her to move to New York City to start covering national news.
Riley has navigated through various media roles, spanning radio, television, streaming, and digital platforms. Her noteworthy experiences include contributions at CBS Radio, Fox News, Fox Business, and Fox Nation. At Fox, she produced impactful stories, ranging from on-the-ground coverage of the SOS Cuba movement in Miami to in-depth chronicles of the Natalie Holloway case with Nancy Grace, and engaging Hallmark Christmas movie discussions with Danica McKellar.
Transitioning to the digital landscape, Riley assumed the role of Lead Producer at Fallen Media, where she conceptualized and hosted "Popcast," a digital TikTok show delving into pop culture and entertainment news. Her subsequent ventures include contributing to various podcasts and digital content projects. Excited to return to television news, Riley looks forward to bringing the people of Idaho stories that matter to them.
The opportunity to cover communities in the state of Idaho holds particular significance, as she spent a significant part of her childhood visiting her grandparents in Sun Valley, where much of her family still lives.
