Boise High Graduate Brian Scott has decided to retire from racing Nascar to spend some extra time with his family.  Another local driver Davey Hamilton Jr has made his own name on the Indy light scene.  Hamilton says that Scott retiring wasn’t a complete surprise to him.

"It was a pretty big impact on me growing up in Idaho and his from Idaho.  I've followed him throughout my racing career and he has always been an idol to me.  For him to retire it's shocking in a way but not really.  A few years ago my dad did the same thing because of family,” said, Indy Light driver Davey Hamilton Jr.

Hamilton says the racing demands so much out of the driver and it goes beyond just racing on the track.

“Racing is so hard to be able to spend time with your family with traveling all the time and doing stuff with sponsors.  It takes up the whole year that's why my dad put up the helmet and I could see why brian did the same thing," said, Hamilton.

With Idaho not being a big car racing state Hamilton is glad to carry the torch moving forward.

"You don't hear a lot of people coming from Idaho it's big for us,  I guess that's why I’m working so hard to make it as far as my dad or Brian Scott,” said, Hamilton.
