It’s time to grab a racquet, your sneakers and some tennis balls and head to your local court to be part of the fun as the USTA is setting up adult tennis leagues in the city of trees.

The league is for beginners who want to get involved in the game I even partook this morning though I probably will keep my day job.  The league is designed to get out on the court and smack around the tennis ball.

"We began this program so people can come here meet other friends and  learn how to play in a safe environment," said Bob Ewing, Adult Program Coordinator for the Treasure Valley.

Teams and leagues are set up by ability, which means matches will be competitive and stimulating. in addition to tennis being social and fun, the health benefits will add an extra incentive.

"This group we have here went thru the beginning group and now they are in an intermediate group and then the next step after that they go into leagues if they want to compete on teams,” said, Ewing.

Along with developing a new skill and exercising the program will give individuals a chance at making new friends along the way.

"It has kept me active I've met lots of people and now we get together during the week and play tennis," said, Nancy Marra Tennis Participant.
