Mountain View wins State 5-A State Title

Posted

This week girls state basketball took center stage and finished up Saturday evening at the Idaho Center.
The Mountain View Mavericks walked away with back to back 5A state titles.

The Mavericks took care of business with Centennial winning 62 to 50. The Mavs were led by future Maryland Terrapin Destiny Slocum who finished her final game with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.

“Well it's pretty awesome first of all, I mean back to back titles, it just doesn't happen very often. The last time a Treasure Valley school won back to back was in the eighties so it has been quite a while.” said Connie Skogrand, Mountain View head coach.

“This is a team that works really hard. These are coaches that work really hard and that know the game very well. This is a well deserved thing for Mountain View girls basketball.” said Destiny Slocum, senior guard.
