Mike Mendoza, the new Boise State Head Wrestling Coach spoke to the media for the first time since replacing Greg Randall in the position. Randall had been with the wrestling program for 23 years, and was the head coach for 14 of those years. Mendoza is just the third wrestling coach in the past 44 years at Boise State.

Mendoza is not short of experience, he spent the previous six seasons as head coach at CSU Bakersfield, this past season leading his team to an 11 and 4 season and a league best 4-1 mark in Pac 12 duals. Mendoza says he is excited to lead the Bronco wrestling team, and hopes to be able to fill the shoes of the coaches before him.

“There’s a wrestling program here that has a great history of success, so I’m following some great coaches and looking to build on the history of the success this program has had. [We’re] moving forward and continuing to bring in great wrestlers and do good things.” said Mendoza.
