Record Breaking State Track Meet

Posted

Athletes from all over the state gathered at Dona Larsen Park for the Idaho State Track Meet despite the dreary weather. The rain didn't slow down the athletes, several of them broke records. Rocky Mountain’s Michael Slagowski set the overall state meet record in the boys 800, and also jogged to victory in the 1600.

Next season, he will compete for Penn State. Middleton senior Jayde Nielsen won the 4A girls 100 meter with a time of 12 minutes and 40 seconds. She is the returning champion in the event. She won last year at the 3A level. The Rocky Mountain and Bishop Kelly track teams sweep the meet with state track titles in both the girls and the boys divisions.
