Former assistant coach John Rillie under Leon Rice is climbing up the ladder of coaching at UC Santa Barbara. Rillie has been promoted to associate head coach of the Gauchos.
He enters his second season at UCSB helping to guide the team to a school record 23 wins a 17-win improvement over the previous season Rillie spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Boise State.
Prior to working for coach Rice, he played college hoops for Gonzaga where he played for three seasons.
"John did a great job for us this past year. His loyalty and experience in recruiting have made him invaluable to our program. He is a big part of our player development and on-court coaching in addition to his recruiting abilities, and he has absolutely earned this," said UCSB Head coach Joe Pasternack.
