A staple of summers’ past in the Treasure Valley, the Boise State football team is bringing back the Summer Classic Softball Game.

Following a two-year hiatus, the Summer Classic will return to the Boise Hawks’ Memorial Stadium, July 20 at 7 p.m.

The game will pit the Broncos’ offense against the defense, with senior wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck serving as team captain for the offense, and redshirt senior linebacker Ben Weaver serving as captain for the defense.  For both captains, they are excited to play the game and are also looking forward to what former minor league baseball player and current linebacker Joe Martarano has to offer in the game.

"Everyone's pumped up kinda to have an offense-defense rivalry game. We have to watch out for Joe Martarano obviously,” said, Thomas Sperbeck Team Captain of Offense.

"I’m still putting together the lineup right now.  We have one or two spots left obviously Joey is going to have a huge impact for us were going to look for him to do some big things for us," said, Ben Weaver Team Captain of Defense.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., and the teams will square off in a Home Run Derby at 6 p.m. Following the softball game, the Bronco football team will sign autographs for fans in attendance.

Tickets to the game are $10 for adults and $6 for youth (high school and younger).

Additional details, including where to purchase tickets to the game, will be released at a later date.
